On Saturday we went through to Denver to get our race/bib numbers and to see the Expo.
Today we ran the race.
We did it! We ran 13.1 miles with no training (well, 5 short runs isn't really training) and we are now suffering as a result.
We were up by 5:30 am and ready to leave by 6 am, with bagel in hand and all our gear on including the all important ...
The main goal for running this half marathon was to lose weight and get fit. Both Warren and I were excited to take action and put in the hard work.
And so we trained.
About 5 times in the 13 week training-plan.
We've been very good about carbo-loading for 13 weeks.
We are committed and focused that way.
Tomorrow is race day. Tomorrow is the day we take all of our 5 days worth of ...

Best Movie: Ghost Town. If you haven't seen it, you should. Its very funny and has a great message.
Best Concert: David Crowder Band. Warren and I went with another couple from church who are more than a decade younger than us. It was fun to 'be young' again and to walk out of the building with throbbing ears!
Best Christmas Carol: It has to be the duet by Josh Groban and ...

Yesterday's marathon is the last marathon I plan to run…EVER!
("Yeah right, until the next one" I hear Warren say behind me).
I carbo-loaded last night and went to bed on a full stomach. The day started out nice and cool. We woke up at 5 am, I had my bowl of oatmeal and a bag of sports jelly beans, got the boys out of bed and we all set off to ...

Tonight was my long-awaited pre-race pasta meal. We went to Olive Garden which has the perfect pre-race meal - the "never ending pasta bowl". Choose from 6 sauces and 7 pastas.
I had fettuccine with alfredo sauce to start off with.
Then I had a half serving of spaghetti with marianara sauce, neither of which I could finish. In addition to that we had warm garlic bread sticks and salad. I am ...
Mamas Got a New Pair of Shoes

Old in front...new in back.
I run my 3rd marathon in 3 days time and I have a new pair of shoes to run it in. Generally, a pair of running shoes should only be worn for 300 miles (482 km) and then should be shelved. That's because the cushioning and stability of the shoe wears down after each mile and the shoe can no longer be trusted to ...
